This exciting new event in the true nature of being a development event has been developed by the Darling Downs RSA and Swimming Gold Coast as a replacement for the time honoured Patron Shield and is heading into the second season in 2025. This concept will provide more opportunities, better outcomes and a more rounded development experience for our younger swimmers.

This event will be taking place on Monday 22nd September 2025 at All Saints Anglican College, in Merrimac on the Gold Coast. The meet information documentation can be found in the link below.

2025 Pho3nix Foundation JX Level Up Challenge - Meet Information

​

Each region will select a team made up of JX swimmers from Gold, Silver, Bronze and Blue JX Levels. Teams will comprise of the following:

  • 9 Yrs, 10 Yrs, 11 Yrs; 12 Yrs; 13yrs & Multiclass – 9-15 Yrs (2 Male & 2 Female)

  • Swimmers results will be used from May 1st 2025 until August 17th 2025.

  • 12-13yrs swimmers times have been converted to LC times to determine JX categories for each stroke (SC time x 1.02)

  • Each stroke will be allocated a category according to the correspnding JX category for that swim.

  • To be eligible, swimmers must have recorded JX qualifying standards in at least 3 of the 4 strokes.

  • Swimmers selected onto the Swimming Queensland Tilly Cup Team are ineligible.

 

At the event:

  • Swimmers will be split into teams representing our 3 event ambassadors - Team Chelsea (Hodges), Team Ben (Armbruster) and Team Julia (Remington).

  • Each swimmer will compete in 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and 2 x 50m relays.

  • Swimmers will compete against other swimmers in their same JX Category.

  • Events are timed finals - so no finals will be swum.

Invitations to swimmers will be sent out on Tuesday 26th August 2025 with acceptances due by midnigh Sunday 31st August 2025.

Once selected, any withdrawals MUST be finalised by midnight Friday 19th September 2025. 

NOTE: any event no shows on the day will incur a $50 administration fee from SGC due to the lack of opportunity to allow another swimmer the position.

​​​SGC will also be looking for up to 6 coaches to be in attendance to assist your swimmers and get the most out of the day.

​

​The final selection of the team is at the discretion of the SGC Committee.

​​Awards will be presented for the following:

  1. Improvement points – The team with the highest improvement points total overall.

  2. Highest individual improvement poit scorer.

  3. Bridging swimmer – the swimmer who has achieved the highest shift in JX levels on the day.

Rules and Conduct of the meet:

​

  • Competitors must be between the ages of 9 and 13 as at day of competition, Monday 22nd September 2025.

  • All swimmers will complete in a all 4 individual 50m events and 2 relay events.

  • Swimmers will be split into 3 teams that will be made up of swimmers from both regions.

  • Freestyle relays are 4x50m and all age relays, by JX categorisation. (Starting order is at the discretion of the Team Managers).

  • Medley relays are 4x50m and all age relays, by JX categorisation. (Starting order is at the discretion of the Team Managers).

  • Multi Class events for swimmers 15 years and under, swimming all 4 individual events and 2 relays.

  • SQ rules apply, any disputes will be adjudicated by the Meet Referee.

  • This is a Short Course Qualifying Meet.
