Skins Spectacular & Dive-in Movie Night
The SGC Skins Spectacular and dive-in movie night is a new proposed concept added to the SGC Meet calendar to provide a fun, new event with an attached social aspect. The concept revolves around swimmers competing in a skins format over the 4 x 50m strokes, with prizes awarded to swimmers and clubs. At the completion of the swimming event, swimmers, coaches, technical officials would be able to remain at the venue to watch a movie on the new GCAC scoreboard, with the provision of a BBQ dinner.
The racing concept would be as follows:
-
Ages would be split into 4 categories – 10yrs & under, 11-13, 14-15 and 16 & over
-
All swimmers would be able to enter for the provisional 50m events.
-
Stoke order would be Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Freestyle
-
The fastest 8 swimmers in each age category would progress to the Final 8 swim-off to take place immediately after the completion of the stroke.
-
The fastest 4 swimmers in the Final 8 swim-off would progress to the Final 4. (May be restrictions on the younger age groups)
-
Swimmers in the final four would receive prizemoney depending on their finishing order.
-
Clubs of the winning swimmer would be awarded a cash prize
-
The swimmer in each age category with the fastest combined 4 times to represent a 200IM time would be presented with a cash prize.
-
Entry to all events would be $40 which would also include the dive-in movie.
-
SGC would seek sponsorship to provide the prizemoney aspect of the event.
-
Spectators would need to pay $15 entry, which would include entry for the swimming and the movie.
-
Food would need to be purchase by all participants and spectators.
Prizemoney would need to be confirmed depending on numbers, however, we would be looking at a structure as follows:
-
Under 10 and 11-13yrs – 1st – $20, 2nd – $15, 3rd – $10, 4th – $5 for each stroke with $50 provided to the overall cumulative 200IM time winner. (Total - $1,000)
-
14-15yrs – 1st – $40, 2nd – $30, 3rd – $20, 4th – $10 for each stroke, with $100 provided to the overall cumulative 200IM time winner. (Total - $1,000)
-
16yrs & over – 1st – $80, 2nd – $60, 3rd – $40, 4th – $20 for each stroke, with $150 provided to the overall cumulative 200IM time winner. (Total - $1,900)
-
Clubs would receive $50 for the winner of each skins stroke event – (Total - $1,600)
-
Total Prizemoney - $5,500.00 (final figures will depend on swimmer entries)
Following the completion of the Skins event, the scoreboard would be moved to the eastern side of the competition pool, or potentially the diving pool for the showing of an appropriate movie. Swimmers, coaches, spectators etc., would be able to watch the movie from the Western grandstand as well as from the 50m pool itself, or it if is in the diving pool, that pool and its surrounds.
If funding and the facility are available, we will have the inflatable available in the diving pool as well, operating concurrently with the movie.
Dinner will be provided to all coaches and technical officials free of charge whilst swimmers and spectators would be able to purchase food and drinks, as required.
