Swimming Gold Coast are working towards getting our swimmers back in the water as soon as it is safe. Our technical officials are ready. In the meantime please mark these dates in your diaries:

SGC AGM - 10th August 2020
How can you help our region. Our notice calling for nominations is out now. Our committee stands down for reappointment and not all of our committee are coming back in roles on the committee. Are you keen to come on board to our Committee or Sub-Committee? Reach out we would love to hear from you.

2020 SGC Welcome Back to Swimming Short Course Invitational - 5th and 6th September 2020 - pending being able to source a pool suitable to meet COVID restrictions.

We are working to get this happening but please be patient these things take lots of time to get happening. Stage 3 has just recently come into effect and there is a lot to do to get this to happen if we can.

Parent spectators will not be permitted at this event due to our restricted resources for our event. We will be asking parents to help my nominating for a position as a volunteer and this will be limited. Can you assist as a technical official, timekeeper, lane chief, technical official. Without a role you will not be able to attend as a parent.

Our goal is to get our swimmers back in the water to have fun racing again and ensuring we meet all the COVID policies set by Qld Health.

As always talk to your swimmers coach to see if they feel your swimmer is ready to participate in this event. We want our swimmers to have fun with this event and get back to racing with their friends.

Parents we need your help to help run our region so if you can help please reach out to be involved. How can you help your region get back to swimming?

The part regarding no parent spectators needs a serious rethink. It's not the only solution. As a coach I've more than enough to do just getting my swimmers organised to race. Being 'in loco parentis' as well has ethical and legal implications that I'm sure many coaches (especially those from large clubs) will not want to handle.

Hi Kim, I happy to help out in any capacity that is required.

What ages or level of swimming is this directed at? How is a swimmer invited as it’s invitational? Thanks

Shout out to all those coaches and swim teachers who have lost their jobs due to the closure of many swimming pools. We are a huge swimming community and remember to reach out .... its ok to not be ok. Many swimmers are now not in the water. Keep strong and keep positive. Reach out to your friends and family. As a community be safe, keep well and we can get through this. Dont forget to check in. If you know of any work available for our many unemployed share it around. Use this page if you need to.

Everyday we all come together as a community to support our swimmers when we had our pools open. We now need to support each other more than ever.

Remember its ok to not be ok ❤️ #reachout #ruok #swimminggoldcoast

Swimming Gold Coast Region advise that our Championships will continue on the weekend.

The safety of swimmers, and all involved with swimming is of the upmost importance to the SGC regional Committee. As per the reccomendations of the World Health Organisation and the Australian Government, swimmers and spectators should be reminded to:

* wash hands with soap at every opportunity,
* use hand sanitisers on a regular basis,
* cough into a tissue and immediately dispose of it, or safely into your elbow,
* avoid shaking hands and minimise contact with those around them.

Remind your swimmers not to give high fives, or hugs. this is probably one of those occasions where a firm but sincere congratulations should be said from a distance.

If you have travelled and returned to Australia in the past 20 days, please do not attend this weekend's meet.

If for any reason you or your swimmer should feel they do not wish to participate this weekend (whether due to your recent return from travel, your own illness, worry about being in a crowd, or for any other reason), please do not hesitate to contact our Race Secretary on racesecretary@swimminggoldcoast.org.au and ask to withdraw from the meet. You will receive a full refund no matter the reason. Don't put your swimmer or yourself under any duress because you have paid for an event.

Should we receive a direction from the Australian Government, Swimming Qld or Swimming Australia to cancel the event we will advise you all immediately but at this stage we are still authorised to continue.

With Kind Regards
Management Committee

Hi all Swimmers,

The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) strategic advice for responding to COVID-19 is to interrupt human-to-human transmission and reduce secondary infections.

This can be achieved through a combination of measures including rapid identification, identification and follow up of the contacts, infection prevention and traveller advice.

WHO calls on all countries to continue efforts to slow the spread of the virus and provide more time to identify effective treatments and develop vaccines. We must stop, contain, control, delay and reduce the impact of this virus at every opportunity.

For up to date information please refer to the Queensland Health up to date facts sheets found here:

Hi Swimmers, Coaches, Parents,
(Update: we are just testing and trialling this but please get on and give it a go for this Sprint meet)

Some quick tips on how to use PositiveCheckin.com for SGC meets. Things change. One day we may be swimming, the next we cant for any number of reasons.

When you checkin as "swimming" or "withdrawing" from an event, notification is sent to the meet operator immediately, and you cant change that checkin once the operator has processed the checkin received.....

So, some basic tips to help us all run a smooth meet:

1: Set yourself up an account when you get 5 minutes and have a look around. Get familiar with how the interface works. watch the youtube video's to get a bit of an idea of what happens.

2: Checkin as close to the prescribed checkin time as possible, unless you 100% know you will or wont be swimming the event on the day.

3: If you are withdrawing from an event and 100% know that to be the case, you can checkin anytime following online meet registration closure. You can check in for one event, or multiple events.

4: If there is a call for general checkins before the session starts, check in for all events that are in that session.

5: If the referee makes an announcement during a meet (for example "All swimmers for the 800mtr event please check in before 2:30pm" then using positive checkin, check your swimmers in and let the operator know if you are swimming or not.

Hope these help.

Hi there, I tried to register but didn’t receive the email to finalize my registration. When I try to log in it’s saying I don’t have an account and when I try to register again it’s saying that I already have an account. 🤔🤔🤔 I have 3 sons swimming tomorrow. Who do I need to let know that they are all swimming all their events? And how do I finalize my registration? Thanks Ulrike

Entries for the 2020 SGC Sprint Champs have closed. The athlete sheet will be sent out shortly for you to check your entries.

This will be a self marshalled event. We will also be using PositiveCheckin.com at this meet. Swimmers are asked they confirm they are swimming using PositiveCheckin.com by the morning of the meet before the start of warmup.

If you have not yet registered for an account, here is a link to a playlist of videos we have cobbled together at the region to help you out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zjhI_tRFQ&list=PLYo3Xs8fmuAGiVBxgRivVzKSWlEYZhCnj

As usual, if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact any of us using the contact details listed on swimmingoldcoast.org.au

Cant wait to see you all at our very first SGC Sprint Championships this coming weekend.
